Chick-fil-A was founded in 1967 by S. Truett Cathy. The first Chick-fil-A restaurant opened in the Greenbriar Mall in Atlanta, Georgia. Before this, Truett Cathy and his brother opened a small diner called The Dwarf Grill in 1946, where the original Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich recipe was created in 1964. The chicken sandwich was sold in other restaurants under license until the dedicated Chick-fil-A restaurant was opened in 1967.
