The Crunch franchise was founded in 1989 by Doug Levine in New York City's Greenwich Village. It began as a small fitness studio in a basement with a philosophy of "No Judgments" to create a welcoming atmosphere for gym-goers. Crunch Fitness started franchising later in 2010, growing to over 400 gyms globally with a strong franchise presence.
