Fahrenheit 451, the dystopian novel by Ray Bradbury, was written and published in 1953. Bradbury wrote the book on a pay typewriter in the basement of UCLA's Powell Library, completing the manuscript in mid-August 1953. The novel was first published by Ballantine Books in October 1953.
