Guru Nanak was born on 15 April 1469, in Rai Bhoi Ki Talvaṇḍī (present-day Nankana Sahib, near Lahore, in what is now Pakistan) according to most traditional accounts. Some Sikh traditional sources also mention his birth being observed on Katak Pooranmashi (the full moon of the Katak month), which corresponds to October–November in the Gregorian calendar, but the more widely cited date in both traditional biographical texts and modern summaries is 15 April 1469. Guru Nanak passed away in 1539 at Kartarpur.
