Nero was born on December 15, 37 CE. He was born in Antium (modern Anzio), the son of Gnaeus Domitius Ahenobarbus and Agrippina the Younger. This places him as a direct descendant of Augustus and the stepson/heir of Claudius, with his rise to emperor occurring in 54 CE.
