The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus was originally built around 550 BCE. It was commissioned by Croesus, the Lydian king, and designed by the Greek architects Chersiphron and his son Metagenes. The construction took about 120 years to complete. This grand temple was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It was later destroyed by fire in 356 BCE and subsequently rebuilt, but eventually fell into ruin after further destructions over the centuries.
