The Washington Commanders are based in the Washington, D.C. area and, as of 2025, are planning to relocate back to the District of Columbia with a new stadium project at the former RFK Stadium site. The team announced a move from their current venue in Landover, Maryland, to the RFK site, with a multi- billion redevelopment plan including a new 65,000-seat stadium set to open around 2030. The project is a joint effort involving the team, the District of Columbia, and related development authorities, and envisions a broader urban complex with residential, retail, and green-space components. For game days, the team continues to play at their current Northwest Stadium in Landover until the new facility is ready, after which the DC site would host home games.
