Jack the Ripper killed his victims primarily in the Whitechapel district and nearby areas of the East End of London in 1888. The five canonical victims and their murder locations are:
- Mary Ann Nichols: Found in Buck's Row (now Durward Street), Whitechapel.
- Annie Chapman: Found in the backyard of 29 Hanbury Street, Spitalfields.
- Elizabeth Stride: Found in Dutfield's Yard, off Berner Street (now Henriques Street), Whitechapel.
- Catherine Eddowes: Found in Mitre Square, City of London.
- Mary Jane Kelly: Found in her room at Miller's Court, off Dorset Street, Spitalfields.
These murders took place in or near the Whitechapel district, with most occurring in the early hours of the morning and the locations being dark, narrow alleyways or yards in the impoverished East End of London.
