Krypto, also known as Krypto the Superdog, originally came from the planet Krypton. He was the family dog of Kal-El (Superman) as a toddler on Krypton. Krypto was sent to Earth in a small prototype rocket created by Superman's father, Jor-El, as a test subject before Kal-El's own rocket was launched. His rocket went off course and drifted through space for about ten years before landing on Earth. Like Superman, Krypto gained superpowers from Earth's yellow sun, including flight, super strength, and heat vision. He became a loyal companion to Superboy and later Superman himself, possessing intelligence and abilities similar to his Kryptonian owner but in canine form.
