Rory McIlroy did not attend college. Although he signed a National Letter of Intent to play college golf at East Tennessee State University, he ultimately decided to forgo college and turned professional in 2007 at the age of 18. He chose to continue playing amateur golf in Europe before turning pro, rather than pursuing a college golf career in the United States
