Stephen King went to the University of Maine at Orono, where he graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a teaching certificate to teach high school. During his time at the university, he wrote for the student newspaper and was active in student politics. He met his future wife, Tabitha Spruce, while both were students there.
