The fourth plane on September 11, 2001, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed in a field near Stonycreek Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. The crash site is about 65 miles southeast of Pittsburgh and roughly 130 miles northwest of Washington, D.C. The plane was forced down by passengers who fought back against the hijackers, preventing it from reaching its intended target, believed to be a federal government building in Washington, D.C., possibly the U.S. Capitol Building.
