The Ukrainian girl, Iryna Zarutska, was stabbed on a Charlotte Area Transit System light rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was stabbed three times, including a fatal wound to her neck, while seated in the rear car of the train near the 1800 block of Camden Road. The attack occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on August 22, 2025. She collapsed on the train and was pronounced dead at the scene.
