Vladimir Guerrero Jr. grew up primarily in the Dominican Republic after spending his early childhood in Montreal, Canada. His parents separated when he was very young, and he spent significant time with his mother in Santiago, Dominican Republic, as well as time with his uncle and, during summers, with his father in the United States. This upbringing in the Dominican Republic is a central part of his formative years, even though he was born in Montreal while his father was playing for the Montreal Expos.
