Archived emails in Gmail are not stored in a separate "Archive" folder. Instead, when you archive an email, it is removed from your Inbox and moved to the "All Mail" label. This "All Mail" folder contains all your emails, including those in your Inbox, Sent, Drafts, and archived messages. To find archived emails in Gmail:
- On desktop, open Gmail, click "More" in the left sidebar to expand labels, then select "All Mail" to see all your emails including archived ones
- On the Gmail Android or iPhone app, open the app and tap "All Mail" from the menu to access archived emails
- You can also search for archived emails by using Gmail's search bar or advanced search, filtering for emails without the "Inbox" label in "All Mail"
If you want to move an archived email back to your Inbox, select the email and click "Move to Inbox"
. Archived emails remain stored indefinitely in "All Mail" unless you delete them. If deleted, they go to the Trash folder and can be recovered within 30 days
. In summary, archived emails in Gmail go to the "All Mail" label, where they remain accessible but are removed from the Inbox view
