Cebu is a province in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines. It consists of a main island called Cebu Island, along with 167 surrounding smaller islands and islets. The province is geographically situated east of Negros Island, west of Leyte and Bohol islands, and its capital and largest city is Cebu City. Cebu City is a highly urbanized city and serves as the regional center of Central Visayas. It is known as "the Queen City of the South" and is a major commercial, trade, education, and industry hub in the Visayas region. Cebu Island is long and narrow, about 122 miles (196 km) long, and faces various seas including the Visayan Sea, Camotes Sea, and Bohol Strait. The province is also known for its rich marine biodiversity, historical significance, and economic importance in the Philippines.
