Chequers, also known as Chequers Court, is a 16th-century manor house that serves as the country house of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. It is located near the village of Ellesborough, halfway between the towns of Princes Risborough and Wendover in Buckinghamshire, at the foot of the Chiltern Hills, about 40 miles (64 km) northwest of Central London. The estate covers approximately 1,500 acres (600 hectares) and has been the official country residence of UK prime ministers since 1921 when it was given to the nation by Viscount Lee of Fareham.
