Coorg, also known as Kodagu, is a picturesque hilly district located in the state of Karnataka, India. It lies on the slopes of the Western Ghats and is situated about 260 km south of Bangalore. Madikeri (formerly known as Mercara) is the district headquarters. Coorg is bordered by the Dakshina Kannada district to the northwest, Hassan district to the north, Mysore district to the east, and the states of Kerala to the southwest and south. It is well known as a major coffee-producing region and is often referred to as the "Scotland of India" due to its scenic beauty and lush green hills.
