Delta State is a state located in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria. It is situated in the Niger Delta region and was formed from the former Bendel State in 1991. The state is bordered by Edo State to the north, Anambra and Rivers states to the east, Bayelsa State to the south, and the Bight of Benin to the west. Its capital city is Asaba, located along the River Niger on the northeastern end of the state, while the economic center is the city of Warri on the southwestern coastline. Delta State is known for its oil and gas production, agriculture, and rich ethnic diversity. It has a significant coastline and complex river systems forming part of the Niger Delta.
