The flashlight on an iPhone is accessed through the Control Center or the lock screen. Here’s how to find and use it:
Using Control Center
- On iPhones with Face ID (no Home button), swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to open Control Center.
- On iPhones with a Home button, swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
- Look for the flashlight icon, which looks like a small flashlight or torch.
- Tap the flashlight icon to turn it on; tap it again to turn it off
If the flashlight icon is not visible in Control Center:
- Open the Settings app.
- Go to Control Center.
- Under More Controls , find Flashlight or Torch and tap the green plus (+) button to add it to the included controls
Using the Lock Screen
- On the lock screen, there is a flashlight icon at the bottom left corner.
- Press and hold this icon to turn the flashlight on.
- Tap it again or press and hold to turn it off
Additional Tips
- You can also ask Siri to turn the flashlight on or off.
- On some iPhones, pressing firmly (using 3D Touch or Haptic Touch) on the flashlight icon in Control Center allows you to adjust the brightness level
The flashlight is located physically on the back of the iPhone next to the camera, using the camera flash LED as the light source
. This method works on all modern iPhones running recent iOS versions. If the flashlight is not working, ensure it is enabled in Control Center and that no restrictions are set in Screen Time settings
