Jackson County is located in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. The county seat is Jefferson, and it is about 60 miles northeast of Atlanta. Jackson County covers an area of approximately 343 square miles, mostly land, and is part of the Atlanta-Athens-Clarke County-Sandy Springs, GA Combined Statistical Area. The county includes several cities and towns such as Jefferson, Arcade, Commerce, Hoschton, Maysville, Nicholson, Pendergrass, Talmo, and the town of Braselton. It was established in 1796 and named after James Jackson, a Revolutionary War figure.
