Latvia is a country in Northern Europe, located in the Baltic region on the eastern shores of the Baltic Sea. It lies between Estonia to the north and Lithuania to the south. Latvia shares land borders with Russia to the east, Belarus to the southeast, and has a coastline along the Baltic Sea to the west. The capital and largest city of Latvia is Riga. Latvia is one of the three Baltic states, together with Estonia and Lithuania, and is situated roughly between latitudes 55° and 58° N and longitudes 21° and 29° E.
