Palestine is located in West Asia, specifically in the Middle East, along the eastern Mediterranean coast. It comprises two main regions: the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, collectively known as the Palestinian territories. The West Bank borders Jordan to the east and Israel to the north, south, and west, while the Gaza Strip borders the Mediterranean Sea to the west, Egypt to the southwest, and Israel to the north and east. Palestine is situated at a continental crossroads and shares borders mostly with Israel, with no direct geographical connection between the two parts (West Bank and Gaza Strip) since they are separated by Israeli territory. Its declared capital is Jerusalem, although the administrative center is in Ramallah.
