The Himalayan mountain range is located in Asia, forming a natural border between the plains of the Indian subcontinent and the Tibetan Plateau. It spans across several countries, mainly Nepal, India, Bhutan, China (Tibet Autonomous Region), and Pakistan. The range runs approximately 2,400 km (1,500 miles) from west-northwest to east-southeast, covering northern Pakistan, northern India (Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh), Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet in China. Some far edges of the range also touch Afghanistan and Myanmar. The Himalayas include some of the world's highest peaks, including Mount Everest, and significantly influence the climate and cultures of South Asia.
