The castle sits on more than 100 acres of landscaped gardens and parkland along the banks of the River Alness. The castle and surrounding grounds serve as the main setting for the series, with contestants eating and socializing at the castle, although they do not actually sleep there—the contestants stay in a hotel near Inverness Airport and are transported back to the castle each day for filming. The challenges take place in various locations nearby, including around Loch Glass about 30 minutes away by car.
