To change a Pokémon's Tera Type in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, follow these steps:
- Defeat Gym Leader Larry in Medali City
Larry is the Normal-type Gym Leader located inside the Treasure Eatery restaurant in Medali. You need to defeat him first to unlock the ability to change Tera Types
- Visit the Chef in Treasure Eatery
After beating Larry, return to the Treasure Eatery and talk to the chef behind the counter. The chef will offer to change your Pokémon's Tera Type if you bring the required Tera Shards
- Collect 50 Tera Shards of the Desired Type
You need 50 Tera Shards of the Tera Type you want to change your Pokémon to. Tera Shards are mainly obtained by completing higher-level Tera Raid Battles (3-star and above). The shards dropped correspond to the type of the Pokémon you defeat in the raid. You can also find some Tera Shards as random gifts or in Area Zero, but raids are the most reliable source
- Exchange Tera Shards for a Tera Type Change
Bring the 50 Tera Shards of the desired type to the chef. The chef will then allow you to change your Pokémon’s Tera Type to that type
