To find the network security key (Wi-Fi password) on your phone, the method depends on your phone's operating system:
On Android
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connections or Network & Internet.
- Tap Wi-Fi.
- Select the Wi-Fi network you are connected to.
- Tap the gear icon or Settings button next to the network.
- Look for a QR code or a Password field. On many newer Android versions, the password is hidden but can be revealed by tapping an eye icon and verifying your identity (PIN or fingerprint)
- Alternatively, in hotspot settings, you can find the hotspot password under Hotspot or Tethering options in Settings
On iOS (iPhone)
- Open Settings.
- Tap Wi-Fi.
- Tap the info icon (ℹ️) next to the connected Wi-Fi network.
- Tap Password to reveal the network security key (requires Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode authentication)
Note: On iOS, if the password is not shown directly, you can retrieve it via iCloud Keychain on a Mac device
Additional Tips
- On Android, you can share the Wi-Fi network via a QR code that others can scan to connect without revealing the password explicitly
- If you have access to your router or modem, the default network security key is often printed on a sticker on the device labeled as WPA Key, WPA2 Key, or Wi-Fi Password
- On Windows and Mac computers, you can find saved Wi-Fi passwords via system settings or Keychain Access, but this is outside of phones
In summary, on your phone, go to Wi-Fi settings, tap the connected network, and look for the password or QR code option to find your network security key.
