Alexander the Great was from Pella, the ancient capital of Macedonia, which is located in northern Greece. He was born there in 356 BCE as the son of King Philip II of Macedonia and Olympias. Pella was the political and cultural center of Macedonia at that time and the seat of the ruling Argead dynasty to which Alexander belonged.
