Charlie Kirk was hit by a single gunshot in the neck while speaking at an outdoor event on the campus of Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, Utah. The shot was fired from the roof of the Losee Center building, approximately 142 yards (130 meters) away from where Kirk was seated under a tent during the event.
