Jay Slater was from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, England. He was a British teenager who grew up in Lancashire, attended local schools there including West End Primary School and Rhyddings High School, and was an apprentice bricklayer at Accrington and Rossendale College at the time of his disappearance. He also played football for Huncoat United F.C. during his youth.
