Joan of Arc was born around the year 1412 in the small village of Domrémy, located in the Meuse valley in the northeast of France. Today, this village is known as Domrémy-la-Pucelle in her honor. At the time of her birth, Domrémy was part of the Duchy of Bar, near the borders of Lorraine, and was under constant threat during the Hundred Years' War between France and England.
