Pickleball was invented in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, Washington. It was created by three dads—Joel Pritchard, Bill Bell, and Barney McCallum—who developed the game to entertain their children during the summer. They improvised using ping pong paddles, a perforated plastic ball, and a lowered badminton net to create what has since become a popular paddle sport.
