The TV series "The Summer I Turned Pretty" was primarily filmed in and around Wilmington, North Carolina. Although the fictional town of Cousins Beach is inspired by Cape Cod, the beach scenes and much of the show's setting were shot across various real beaches near Wilmington, including Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Wrightsville Beach. The Fisher family's beach house, an important setting in the show, is located in a private golf course community in Wilmington’s Porters Neck Plantation. Other specific filming locations include downtown Wilmington for town scenes, the Cape Fear Country Club, and some scenes were filmed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for the fictional Finch College. Additional notable places used in filming include the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area (for a snow scene) and the nearby town of Southport for the "Entering Cousins Beach" sign.
