The Titfield Thunderbolt was filmed primarily in Somerset, England, near Bath. Key filming locations included Freshford village (which represented Titfield village), Monkton Combe railway station (which served as Titfield station), and the Cam Valley railway line between Camerton and Limpley Stoke, all near Bath. Other notable locations were Midford Viaduct and Bristol Temple Meads station (used as Mallingford station in the film). Some scenes were also filmed in the Oxfordshire village of Woodstock and at the former Imperial Institute in London. The railway line used for filming had already been closed and was rented by Ealing Studios for the production.
