During the first season of Sesame Street, the character Oscar the Grouch was orange. He was originally designed to be magenta but due to the limitations of color TV technology at the time, he appeared orange instead. Starting from the second season, Oscar was changed to the green color that he is now famously known for, with an in-show explanation that he went on vacation and came back green.
