The disciple who betrayed Jesus was Judas Iscariot. He was one of the twelve original apostles and betrayed Jesus to the Sanhedrin by identifying Him with a kiss in exchange for thirty pieces of silver. This act led to Jesus' arrest and eventual crucifixion. Judas later felt remorse, attempted to return the money, and then took his own life.
