The guitarist who replaced Syd Barrett for Pink Floyd during the U.S. tours was David Gilmour. He stepped in as Barrett’s live replacement after Barrett’s deteriorating condition in late 1967, and although he initially joined to cover Barrett’s parts, the band soon made Gilmour a full member, effectively ending Barrett’s tenure with Pink Floyd.
