Directory information that can be disclosed without consent typically includes the student's name, address, telephone listing, date and place of birth, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, dates of attendance, honors and awards, and sometimes photographs and email addresses. However, information such as Social Security numbers, ethnicity, grades, enrollment records, religious affiliation, parent names and addresses, and other personally identifiable or sensitive data cannot be disclosed without consent. Therefore, an example of information that is NOT directory information and cannot be disclosed without consent would include Social Security numbers or grades. In summary, among the options given, any of the following would not be examples of directory information that can be disclosed without consent:
- Social Security number
- Grades or academic transcripts
- Ethnicity or race
- Religious affiliation
- Parent name and address
These are examples of non-directory information which require consent before disclosure under FERPA guidelines.
