The appendix is located on the right side of the lower abdomen, near the right hip bone. It is attached to the cecum, which is the beginning of the large intestine. Its typical position corresponds to a surface point called McBurney's point. Though this location is usual, in rare cases like mirror- image twins or certain anatomical variations, the appendix can be found on the left side instead.
