When parking downhill:
- With a curb: Turn your wheels toward the curb. This way, if the car starts to roll, the front tire will gently touch the curb and act as a barrier to prevent the vehicle from rolling into traffic.
- Without a curb: Turn your wheels to the right (toward the edge of the road). This will make the vehicle roll away from the road and traffic if the brakes fail.
This practice helps keep the car from rolling into traffic and adds an extra layer of safety when parking on a slope. Additionally, always engage the parking brake and put the vehicle in park (automatic) or gear (manual) after positioning the wheels correctly.
