Dr Pepper was created by pharmacist Charles Alderton in 1885 in Waco, Texas. Alderton worked at Morrison’s Old Corner Drug Store and developed Dr Pepper as a unique blend of various fruit syrups inspired by the smells in the store. The drink was originally called "Waco," and the store owner Wade Morrison later named it Dr Pepper. Alderton focused on the creation of the drink while Morrison helped commercialize it, with the official Dr Pepper Company being established in 1891.
