Veterans Day is a U.S. federal holiday dedicated to honoring all men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces, including veterans from all eras, wars, and periods of national service. It began as Armistice Day to mark the end of World War I and was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 to recognize all veterans, not just those from WWI. It is observed on November 11 each year.
