Lady Edith marries Herbert "Bertie" Pelham, who is the 7th Marquess of Hexham. They get married on New Year's Eve in 1925. Edith, after marrying Bertie, inherits the title of Marchioness of Hexham, which actually outranks both her parents in social rank. Together, they have children: Edith has a daughter named Marigold from a previous relationship with Michael Gregson, and a son named Peter with Bertie, born in 1928. Their relationship blossoms especially after Edith gives Bertie a second chance following an earlier broken engagement. Bertie is the sole owner of Brancaster Castle in Northumberland and served in the military prior to their marriage.
