The Popsicle was invented by Frank Epperson in 1905 when he was 11 years old. He accidentally left a cup of soda with a stirring stick outside overnight on a cold night, and it froze into a fruit-flavored ice pop on a stick. He called it the "Epsicle" initially and later, urged by his children, renamed it the Popsicle. Epperson patented the invention in 1923 and started producing it commercially, selling it at amusement parks before selling the rights to the Joe Lowe Company in 1925.
