Angie Stone was an American singer-songwriter, rapper, actress, and record producer known for her influential role in hip-hop and neo-soul music. Born Angela Laverne Brown on December 18, 1961, she initially gained fame in 1979 as a member of The Sequence, one of the first female hip-hop groups. She later pursued a successful solo career with hits like "No More Rain (In This Cloud)" and "Wish I Didn't Miss You." Stone also co-wrote D'Angelo's album "Voodoo" and appeared in various acting roles. She received multiple accolades, including Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards, Grammy nominations, and was inducted into the Women Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2024. Sadly, she passed away on March 1, 2025, following a traffic accident.
