Chris Tindal is a professional with a distinguished 40-year career primarily in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Captain in the Navy Reserves in 2010. He has an extensive background in energy management, focusing on operational energy policy for the Department of the Navy, and has been a key figure in promoting alternative fuels and renewable energy resources. Notably, he led the Great Green Fleet initiative, which was a pioneering program aimed at using alternative fuel blends in Navy ships. After his Navy career, Chris has been active in advancing sustainable energy and biofuels, serving as the Assistant Director for the Commercial Aviation Alternative Fuels Initiative (CAAFI). He also works as an independent consultant for the sustainable aviation fuel industry and serves on the Board of Directors for Advanced Biofuels USA, promoting the adoption of advanced biofuels for energy security and environmental benefits. Additionally, Chris is an Adjunct Professor at Queensland University of Technology, where he is involved in research and development related to biofuels. Chris graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1980 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a Professional Engineer and Certified Energy Manager. He is originally from Alabama and currently resides in South Carolina.
