Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, born on October 9, 1935, is a member of the British royal family. He is the elder son of Prince George, Duke of Kent, and Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark, making him a grandson of King George V. He is a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II and currently 42nd in the line of succession to the British throne. Edward inherited the title Duke of Kent at the age of six in 1942 following his father's death in a plane crash. He has served in the British Army, had a long military career, and has been involved in numerous charitable organizations and royal duties.
