The Burj Khalifa is owned primarily by Emaar Properties, a Dubai-based real estate development company. Mohamed Alabbar is the chairman of Emaar Properties. The skyscraper was developed as a partnership project with financial backing and strategic support from the Dubai government and international investors. While Emaar Properties manages and operates the building, portions of the tower such as residential and office spaces have been sold or leased to private investors, making the ownership somewhat shared. The building was constructed by a collaboration of three major companies: Samsung C&T from South Korea, BESIX from Belgium, and Arabtec from the United Arab Emirates.
