Guinness is owned by Diageo, a British-based multinational alcoholic beverage company formed in 1997 from the merger of Guinness plc and Grand Metropolitan. Diageo is the parent company of Guinness and other well-known brands like Johnnie Walker and Baileys. Although the Guinness family no longer controls the company, they still hold a stake in Diageo, which was valued at around £200 million in 2017. The Guinness brand itself remains one of the most successful stout beers worldwide, brewed mainly at St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin, Ireland.
