Tim Hortons is currently owned by Restaurant Brands International (RBI), a multinational company based in Canada and the United States. RBI was created in 2014 when Burger King and Tim Hortons merged. RBI also owns other fast-food chains such as Burger King, Popeyes, and Firehouse Subs. The investment firm 3G Capital, which is Brazilian-American, has significant control over RBI. Despite this global ownership structure, Tim Hortons remains a Canadian brand at heart, with Canadian banks and institutional investors also holding substantial stakes in RBI.
